Temps are dropping it like it’s
hot er, cold..and most of us (hello midwesterners!) are now fully transitioned into our fall and winter wardrobes and ready to tackle the next six months or so. There have been some token pieces that have made it into this year’s wardrobe that I’m currently obsessing over. I’ve never really been a fashionista or really good at dressing “nice” (I’m traditionally a bland black work slacks and cardigan type of girl) but with my most recent promotion at work a few months ago, I meet with a lot of candidates and clients and have to look … nice. So, I’ve been experimenting! I’ve tackled two hair styles that get me through a work week and are easy to manage and I’ve picked up some cute basic items to include in my clothes lineup that are currently serving me oh-so-well.
one// stretchy skinnies
two// chambray shirts
three// dark brown boots
I’m obsessed with the stretchy skinnies that I scored from Old Navy (Rockstar line in black) and Bass Co. (I have a blue on blue polka dot pair and a maroon pair). Seriously – swooooon! So comfortable and an easy transition from fall to winter – with flats or boots! Plus, they go with everything and immediately slim you out.
A chambray shirt is perfection when wearing it with color skinnies or underneath a wintery sweater. It’s also great to pair with a cardigan and something some consider another “neutral” that goes with anything.
And lastly, I’ve noticed that I own three pairs of dark brown boots. I have a pair of riding boots that accommodate my man-calves (scored on clearance last season from Aerosoles), a pair of heeled tall boots and also a pair like #3 above that I picked up from Target last year that I also love to pair with skinnies or even brown work pants. Comfortable and again a great transition piece from fall to winter!
What are your go-to’s for this season?
